disAbility Resource Center is a private, nonprofit, Center for Independent Living, that provides services at no cost to people with disabilities to help them achieve independence at home, work, school and in the community.  We cover a 5 county area, which includes, New Hanover (main office), Brunswick, Pender, Onslow and Columbus.We are looking for a part-time Community Resource & Development Specialist to promote our mission and services, cultivate relationships with other individuals,organizations and businesses, assist the Director in organizing PR events and fundraisers, maintaining our contacts database and producing our newsletter and marketing materials.

In this role, we are looking for someone with at least 3-5 years experience working in a fundraising, marketing, and media engagement capacity.   The ideal candidate should be well organized, creative and passionate about advocating for people with disabilities. This position is expected to be a highly-motivated, personable individual who is able to work with minimal supervision and develop relationships with a variety of individuals, local businesses, nonprofits and elected officials.  Excellent verbal and written communication skills is a must.

Key responsibilities:

Maintain contacts database and proficient in using Constant Contact for generating monthly newsletter, announcements and updating constituent information.

Produce gift acknowledgement letters.

Maintain dRC website and frequently engage with the community through various forms of social media. (Facebook, twitter, so forth)

Produce event flyers, marketing materials, press releases, and success stories on behalf of the dRC.

Assist the dRC ED and Board of Directors, in coordinating fundraising events.

Conduct grant research and writing in conjunction with the Executive Director.

Attend a variety of outreach events to promote the disAbility Resource Center.

Assist in the annual update of the disAbility Resource Guide.

This is a part-time position that will work between 20-24 hours per week. Benefits include paid vacation, sick leave and holidays. The dRC office is also closed from Christmas Eve through New Years annually. Individuals with personal life experience with a disability are highly encouraged to apply.
